Even Geniuses Get Their Ideas From Somewhere

Sounding an awful lot like Jonathan Edwards before Jonathan Edwards, Nicolas Malebranche, sometime around 1700 writes,"Tis an undeniable Truth, that God can have no other Principal End of his Actions, than Himself: and that he may have Subordinate Ends, tending to the Preservation of the Beings he has created. He can have no Principal End besides Himself: because, being not liable to error he can (not) place his ultimate End in Beings that include not all of Perfection . . . God therefore wills His Glory, as the Principal End; and the Preservation of His Creatures; only for His glory."
