Let’s try to read as much of the Bible we can together this year.I know it is not always easy.I want to help.I am going to provide you with some questions most Mondays to Fridays that will help you get a little something out of what you are reading. Sometimes there will be more questions, sometimes less. So, get a notebook, a pen, your Bible, and if you would like some help, take some time to answer the questions, and you may be surprised by all God teaches you.Genesis 14

1. How many different kings do you read about in verses 1 through 2?
2. There's a lot of war going on in these verses. Who wins the war in verses 9 and 10 and who loses?
3. The first 11 verses almost reads like a news report. But verse 12 changes the perspective a bit. Besides taking all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, who do they also take?
4. Where is Lot living at this point? What do we know about Sodom from 13:13? What warning do you find there?
5. Abram hears what happened. And what does he do? And what happens?
6. Think about this. Abram goes to war against the kings who defeated the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah and what is the result?
7. What does this tell you about God's commitment to Abram?
8. After he defeats these kings, what two kings come out to meet him?
9. What does the king of Salam say to Abram and how does Abram respond to him?
10. But what does the next king say to Abram and how does Abram respond to him and why?
11. Why do you think there's a difference in the way he responded to the two different kings?

Psalm 14

1. What does the fool say?
2. Sometimes we are intimidated by atheists. But what is God saying about them?
3. How does God evaluate people in the first three verses of this passage?
4. What are wicked people failing to realize in verses 4-6?
5. What is the psalmist praying in verse 7? And what is he sure will happen?
6. Things are not going to continue the way they are right now. What lesson will the wise person learn from this psalm?

Matthew 14

1. What did Herod think when he heard about Jesus' miracles?
2. Why did Herod have John the Baptist arrested?
3. Now think about this. John the Baptist was a prophet. He was saying the truth. And yet, what happened to him?
4. How did John the Baptist die?
5. Why did Herod's wife want John the Baptist to die? What does that tell you about a guilty conscience?
6. How did Herod feel when she asked him to kill John? And yet he still did. Why did he do that?
7. The greatest prophet is beheaded in prison. There is a cost to standing for God. How did Jesus respond when he heard about John? Why do you think he responded like that?
8. Yet, people still followed Jesus at this point. How would you respond if you were sad and a large group of people didn't allow you to have time to yourself because they wanted to get something from you? How did Jesus respond?
9. When the disciples asked Jesus to send the crowds away, what did Jesus say to them? What does this tell you about Jesus?
10. After Jesus finally did send the crowds away, what does he do? What does that tell you about Jesus?
11. The disciples then go out on a boat on the sea, and Jesus comes to them. How does he get to them?
12. Ok. So Jesus feeds five thousand people with a couple of loaves, and he walks on the water. Yet, John the Baptist is beheaded in prison. What do you think about that?
13. What does Jesus tell the disciples when they see him? How does Peter respond?
14. When does Peter become afraid? And what does he say? And how does Jesus respond to him?
15. Peter is walking on the water! But he begins to look at the wind and sink, and Jesus doesn't say great job, he says, you of little faith. Just because we are in the storm doesn't mean Jesus is not Lord and it does not mean we have reason for fear. How do those in the boat respond to all of this? What is the significance of them doing that to Jesus?
