1 Peter 1:6-9 Outline

It is normal for believers to suffer.It is also normal for believers to rejoice in the middle of those sufferings.I want us to think about why.Why is it that believers rejoice in suffering?There are some of you who aren’t experience profound joy and you want to know where to find it and there are others of you who are wasting your life looking for joy in all the wrong places.  Your main goal in life is to avoid suffering because you think it is in avoiding suffering where joy is found and I want to challenge you by showing that is not the way Peter sees it.Over the course of three weeks we will be looking at verses 3-12 where Peter gives us several reasons believers experience joy in the middle of suffering.1.    A Reason from the Future:        vs. 3-6a    Feb. 15th2.    A Reason from the Present:        vs. 6b-9    Feb.     22nd3.    A Reason from the Past:        vs. 10-12    March 1stIt is not as difficult looking at what is going to happen to believers to understand why someone might rejoice in that, it can be more difficult looking at what is happening in believers’ lives to understand why someone might rejoice in that which is why I want us to look carefully at verses 6-9 where Peter reminds us of several truths believers know about trials which give them reason to rejoice in the middle of them.1.    The length of trials."For a little while"2.    The necessity of trials."since necessary"3.    The purpose of trials."in order that the proof of your faith..."
