Your low view of yourself probably isn't low enough

"Once in a seminary class John Gerstner told of preaching in a church in Baltimore. Apparently his sermon had been on our depravity, our utter wretchedness in sin and our total inability to commend ourselves in any way to God outside of Christ. After the service a woman told Dr. Gerstner - as she held her thumb and forefinger with a minuscule space in between, 'That sermon made me feel this big,' to which Gerstner retorted, 'That's too big!' Apparently she had missed something about the totality of sin.'"Dale Ralph Davis
