Through the Bible: Day #2

Let’s read the Bible together this year!  I know it looks like a big book. But, if you can read this, you can read the Bible. In fact, if you read just two or three chapters a day, you can read the whole Bible in one year. And if you do that, it’s potentially life-changing. I understand though that it is not always easy.I want to help.I am going to provide you with some questions most Mondays to Fridays that will help you get a little something out of what you are reading. Sometimes there will be more questions, sometimes less. So, get a notebook, a pen, your Bible, and if you would like some help, take some time to answer the questions, and you may be surprised by all God teaches you this year. Genesis 2:4-25In this chapter, God zooms in from looking at the universe was created to look especially at His plan for us as humans. We have gotten the big picture, now let’s look at some of the details. 

1. How exactly did God make man? What do you think is the significance of God breathing into man’s nostrils the breath of life?
2. What does the way God crewated man say about the kind of relationship they have?
3. What did God make after creating man?
4. What was this place like? Note some of the characteristics that Moses shares about it. 
5. Was this place the whole earth? Yes or no?
6. Why are there are these different rivers? What might that tell you about Eden?
7. Why did God place man there? What might this teach you about work? 
8. What did God say man could do? What did God say man could not do? 
9. What is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? What is the point?
10. After giving this command, what does God do for man? What does that say about God? 
11. What does this teach us about marriage?
12. What does man do with the cattle and the birds and the beasts of the field? Who has been naming things up to this point? What does that tell you about man’s role? 
13. Why does God use Adam's rib to make Eve?
14. What does man say about the woman? What do you think that means?
15. What does Moses tell us about marriage at the end of this chapter? 
16. How does he describe man and woman at the end of this chapter? What do you think is the significance of that statement? 

Psalm 2

1. What are the rulers of the earth doing and saying at the beginning of this psalm? And who are they wanting to do it to? 
2. What does this tell you about humans?
3. What does the Psalmist think of what they are doing? What word does he use to describe it?
4. What is God’s attitude towards what they are doing? What does that tell you about heaven? 
5. What does God say He is going to do? 
6. What does God say to His anointed one?
7. What promise does he make to His anointed? What does this tell you about God’s plan for the universe?
8. What warning does the psalmist give these kings at the end of this Psalm?
9. Who does he say is blessed?

Matthew 2

1. Who comes looking for Jesus after he has been born? How do they describe him? 
2. What were these “kings” coming to do?
3. How did Herod respond?
4. Where did the chief priests and scribes say the Messiah was going to be born? And how does the passage they quote describe the work of this Messiah?
5. How did the magi respond when they found Jesus? What exactly did they do?
6. Why was Herod so interested I knowing where this Child was going to be born? 
7. Why do you think Herod killed all the children under two in Bethlehem? 
8. This is terrible, but does Herod’s actions surprise God or stop God from doing what He wants? How do you know from this passage? 
9. How did Joseph know when to leave Egypt? If you asked Joseph, why would he have said he went to Nazareth? But why ultimately did he go there?
