Simple Family Devotions #23: Hoping in your hope

It is one thing to know what God is going to do in the future, it is another to have that knowledge change your entire way of looking at the world. We have been given hope as Christians but we need to hope in our hope.

What does it look like to fix your hope on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ? Throughout the following passages you find several characteristics of the person whose knowledge of the future is making a difference in their life. Read these verses and identify what difference is the future making or supposed to make on the way we live?

* 1 Peter 1:6

* 1 Corinthians 15:58

*Matthew 6:1,6

*Matthew 6:19-21

*2 Peter 3:10-14, 1 John 3:3

*Luke 6:22,23

*James 5:7-9

*2 Corinthians 4:16-18

And that’s just the New Testament! Imagine if we took time to look at the Old. All this stuff the Bible tells us about the return of Jesus Christ and what He is going to do when He returns is supposed to make a difference in our lives right now. But does it? Are you really hoping in your hope? Use these Scriptures to evaluate yourself. What is one way knowing the future is changing the way you are living today? How will it change you today?
