Through the Bible: Day 83, Exodus

It is vital that we spend time in God’s Word.

But it’s not always easy.

We read a chapter and we don’t know what to get out of it or even how to start to understand it.

I thought I could try to help you get a little something out of what you are reading by providing you with some questions to ask as you look at the text.  Good questions are a good start to understanding. Sometimes there will be more questions, sometimes less.

You can do this!

So, get a notebook, a pen, your Bible, and if you would like some help, take some time to answer the questions, and you may be surprised by all God teaches you.

Exodus 33

1. God has judged His people for breaking the covenant and committing idolatry. Now, what does He tell Moses He will do in verse 1 and 2?
2. But what does he say he will not do in verse 3?
3. How do the people respond to that? Why did they do that?
4. What did Moses pitch outside the camp, what did he call it, and what was supposed to happen there?
5. What happened when Moses went into the tent of meeting?
6. How did God speak to Moses?
7. Why do you think there is all this talk about meeting with God and the presence of God, right after God says He won't go with Israel into the Promised Land?
8. What does Moses want from God in verses 12 and 13? How does he plead with God?
9. What does he say God had promised in verse 14? What is the significance of this statement?
10. What does Moses say he doesn't want in verse 15 and why does he say that in verse 16?
11. What is the significance of Israel according to this verse?
12. How does God respond?
13. What does this tell you about God?
14. In case you are wondering, Moses tells us in verse 18ff. Moses asks God to see what? Ancd what does God show Him in verse 19?
15. God is going to proclaim the name of the Lord to Moses, in other words, God is going to preach God, and what does God preach about?
16. What happens if a man sees God's face according to verse 20?
17. It may be hard to understand all that's going on in verses 21 to 23, but at the very least what is it telling us about God?
18. How does this make Jesus' work so important if we are going to live in the presence of God?
19. How does this make Jesus' person so important for us as believers?
