I heard what you didn't say

We can communicate without words.Often a lack of words is a kind of communication. If I don't tell my wife I love her, I'm saying something. When our words and are actions contradict each other, we are communicating something. If I say I love you and then ignore you, I'm saying something.Churches need to understand this. It's not just individuals that can communicate without words. Churches communicate through their action or lack of it.If you as a Christian are interested in the proclamation of the gospel then you as a Christian are interested in the actions of your church. I know there are some who are cautious about stressing the importance of doing good because they don't want to be distracted from telling others the good news. But what I'm trying to say is that if we are interested in telling others the good news we must also be interested as a church in doing good because the way we act as church says something.Whether or not we are doing good communicates. For example, if we as a church talk about the love of Christ and yet aren't any different than the world in our approach to the needs around us, we are communicating by our inaction. We are saying something by doing nothing.
