Be Amazed...
“If somehow the sun would fall from its’ sphere and be degraded into a wandering atom, or an angel be turned out of heaven and converted into a silly fly or worm, that would not be nearly as humiliating as for God to become man; the reason, they were but creatures before, and so they would remain, though an inferior order or species of creatures. The distance between the highest and lowest of creatures is a finite distance. The angel and the worm dwell not so far away. But for the infinite, glorious Creator of all things, to become a creature, is a mystery exceeding all human understanding. The distance between God and the highest order of creatures is an infinite distance. The Bible says God has to stoop down to look at the heavens. If he has to stoop down to look at the heavens, consider how greatly he had to stoop to the state and condition of a creature. But what is even more amazing is that the Son of God did not only become a creature, he became an inferior creature. He was made less than the angels. Had Jesus become an angel that would have been terribly humbling, but he went further. He became man. And what makes this even more incredible is that Jesus became man after the fall – there was no taint of sin in Christ, but yet His body and the world he lived in all had the effects of sin upon it, he had to deal with human infirmities, like hunger or thirst or weariness or pain.”
