Through the Bible: Day 76, Exodus

It is vital that we spend time in God’s Word.

But it’s not always easy.

We read a chapter and we don’t know what to get out of it or even how to start to understand it.

I thought I could try to help you get a little something out of what you are reading by providing you with some questions to ask as you look at the text.  Good questions are a good start to understanding. Sometimes there will be more questions, sometimes less.

You can do this!

So, get a notebook, a pen, your Bible, and if you would like some help, take some time to answer the questions, and you may be surprised by all God teaches you.

Exodus 26

1. God commands Moses to make what here?
2. What is this place? What is going to happen here?
3. Honestly, this is one of the most important construction projects in the history of the world. We might not be interested in curtains and clasps and all of the details, but this is the place where God is coming to meet with man. That’s HUGE!
4. How do you think the Israelites at that time would have felt about the tabernacle? What comfort might have this have brought to them?
5. God starts with curtains. How many curtains was Moses to make and what was to be skillfully worked into them?
6. These “cherubim” point back to what?
7. Each one of these curtains was around 13 meters long and 2 meters wide. These curtains would be coupled together. They made up the ceiling of the tabernacle.
8. They then were to make curtains of goat hair for over the tabernacle. He gets very specific about what and how. These curtains would cover the tabernacle.
9. What color is the third curtain in verse 14? What is the fourth curtain made of?
10. We then look at a more thorough description of the construction of the tabernacle in verses 15-29. How much silver is included in this? Where would they have gotten this silver from? (See Exodus 30:11-16) What is the purpose of all this silver do you think?
11. Where does verse 30 say Moses is getting the plan for the tabernacle? He has said this a number of times already. What does that tell you about God and the worship of God, do you think?
12. He then talks about a blue, purple, scarlet and fine twined linen veil. What is to be worked into this as well? What was to come behind the veil? What was the purpose of this veil? Why did there need to be a veil here? What does this say about God?
13. What was put outside the veil?
14. What two areas of the tabernacle are described here?
15. What do you think might be the purpose of including this information about how the tabernacle was to be made? What does all this tell you about God living among sinful men?
